I was a computer programmer and systems integration expert for many many years mostly working on Unix systems. Then I was a website developer, doing the more technical parts of a website rather than the design elements (that’s a job for a graphic designer).
And then there was CMS and in particular WordPress and very many people used that for websites.
But a WordPress site can need looking after, a bit of loving care and maintenance. So nowdays I help folk who have a WordPress site that’s not quite up do date or having some problems to look after their website. I try to do the minimum necessary to resolve any problems and do ad-hoc support when it’s needed. I work with my customers to transfer the knowledge they need to look after the site. I advice and mentor so as to help them avoid common pitfalls and gain the knowledge they need to run their own website to the extent they feel confident with.
