Terms and Conditions

Age for attending courses

The carving and green woodwork courses are designed for adults unless otherwise clearly stated. Courses for young people require a responsible adult to attend and the course booking should be made by the adult. By agreeing to these terms and conditions you are confirming that you are at least 18 years old.

In some circumstances under 18s may attend adult courses but this must be agreed with Dave Cockcroft before the booking is made and the person making the booking must be a responsible adult.

Age for buying knives

You must be over 18 years of age to purchase a knife. If I don’t know you and can’t check your age I will request you send me an image of your photo id (passport or driving license) before I ship the knife.

Post and Packing

In the UK spoons and knives are posted first class and overseas they are posted tracked and signed for. I post packages as soon as possible, usually within 2 working days. Please note packages to US, Canada and other countries can take up to 2 weeks to arrive but you can monitor progress with the tracking code I’ll email to you. Since 1 Jan 2021 packages to Europe are tipically taking 10 days to arrive, hopefully this will improve later in the year.

EU customers please be aware that due to changes in import/export rules you may be required to make additional payment for customs charges and VAT on receipt. Please be prepared to pay this, unfortunately I cannot at this time advise you how much this will be. These are the first exports I’ve made since the new rules came into effect. If you do have charges please email me to tell me how much, then I’ll be better able to advise customers in the future. Thank you.

Gift Vouchers

Please note that our gift coupons are transferrable – you can pass them on to anyone but they can only be used once. No refund will be given for unused valid gift coupons or those that have expired.

When specified that a voucher is redeemable for a particular value, e.g. £80, against certain courses, it is redeemable for that amount and can only be used to book onto classes with a value equal or higher to that amount.

Once a booking has been made using a voucher, that booking is non-refundable and cannot be transferred to a different course or date.

General Course Info

Your course fee covers tuition and the tools and materials used. All tools and materials are provided by me but you may bring your own wood work tools along if you wish to.

All courses are beginner friendly, unless stated otherwise.

Fresh coffee and tea, flapjack and biscuits are provided. Please bring a packed lunch.

Courses are held at different venues, check the venue when you book.

Bookings

Details of classes and workshops contained on the website may be subject to change without notice. We reserve the right to cancel or move a class or workshop due to unforeseen circumstances including illness.

If for any reason we are forced to cancel a class we will notify you as soon as possible. In this event we will be able to transfer your booking to another available class, or alternatively we will refund your course fee in full.

Once a booking is made you should immediately receive a confirmation email.

Joining instructions are emailed the week before the course and cover place and times, what to wear and what to bring.

Please note: email will be sent to the email address of the person who has made the booking. If you are buying a class for a friend, we will leave it to you to pass on these details at your discretion.

Under 18s

Please note that our courses are designed for adults. We cannot accept bookings from or for people under the age of 18 except in special circumstances that are agreed with Dave Cockcroft before the booking is made and the person making the booking must be a responsible adult. An example would be where a young person, say a 16 year old, has previous experience carving or using edge tools safely.

Cancellation policy

Dave Cockcroft may cancel a course less than 3 people booked on to it as it is not viable to run a course with just 1 or 2 people, also the course is less enjoyable for the participants. We will notify you of a cancellation a few days before the course and offer you a transfer to an equivalent course or a full refund.

We regret that once you have booked we cannot offer refunds or transfers on any courses.

If for any reason you need to cancel your place on a course then we regret that no refund can be issued. If you are booked on a course and do not turn up on the day then no refund or transfer will be given.

Transfers onto an alternative class or date are offered where possible but are at the discretion of Dave Cockcroft.

You can transfer your place on a course to a friend at any point before the course starts. If you do wish to transfer your place to a friend, please notify me as soon as possible.

Booking For Another Person

If you’d like to book a class for a friend or loved one we recommend our gift vouchers for that personal touch!

However you can also book a class directly, on another person’s behalf. Simply make the booking as you normally would and state the name of the person who will be attending the class in the ‘Additional Info’ box at the checkout.
